Approach

A methodology built to end in implementation, not a deck.

Every engagement — whether a single governance review or a multi-year succession plan — runs through the same three phases, scaled to the size of the question.

01

Discover

We start by testing the question, not answering it. That means direct conversations with the board, the family, or the executive team — plus a review of the governance documents, financials and prior strategy work already in the building. Most engagements surface at least one assumption everyone had been treating as fact.

  • A written diagnostic of the real issue, not the presenting one
  • A map of who holds which decision rights today
  • A short list of what needs to change, ranked by impact
02

Connect

Findings only become useful once they're synthesised into a position — a governance structure, a succession sequence, or a strategic direction the board can actually vote on. This is where the disconnected pieces (a board pack here, a family conversation there, a stalled strategy doc) get assembled into one coherent recommendation.

  • A governance, succession or strategy framework tailored to the organisation
  • A sequenced roadmap with clear ownership
  • Alignment secured directly with the board or family, before execution begins
03

Execute

We stay in the room through implementation — chairing working sessions, sitting on committees where appropriate, and checking that what was agreed on paper is actually happening in practice. This is the phase most advisory firms hand off after the report. We don't.

  • Hands-on support through rollout, not a handoff document
  • Regular checkpoints against the agreed roadmap
  • Adjustments made in real time as the organisation's situation evolves
A typical arc

Illustrative, not fixed — every engagement is scoped to the question.

A single-board governance review can move in weeks. A family succession plan or a multi-year transformation is measured in quarters. The shape below is the reference point we scope against, not a template we impose.

Weeks 1–3

Assessment

Diagnostic interviews, document review, and an initial read on where governance, ownership or strategy is exposed.

Weeks 4–6

Architecture

The governance framework, succession sequence or strategic plan is designed and pressure-tested with the board or family.

Ongoing

Integration

Structures and decisions are put into practice — committee charters signed off, succession steps taken, strategy operationalised.

Periodic

Review

A standing check-in to confirm the framework is holding, adjusted as the business, board or family situation changes.

How engagements are scoped

Three ways to start, no assumption of a long engagement.

A fixed-scope diagnostic — a governance review, a succession readiness assessment, or a strategic audit — delivered as a defined piece of work with a clear end point.

An ongoing advisory retainer — for boards and family offices that want continuing access to an independent, board-literate perspective, including CEO management services during a transition.

A Meridian coaching arc — a bounded, one-to-one engagement for an executive navigating a specific inflection point, scoped around a written brief rather than an open retainer.
